The White Hart is an important historical landmark locally. It is where Lord Nelson's estate was auctioned off in 1823 and had been there for over a hundred years before that. With the recent destruction of the 200 year-old Rose Cottage, the proposed destruction of Merton Hall, the selling off of the Manor Club and the possible destruction of the 18th century Dorset Hall one wonders if there is anything at all in the area that the council and the developers would consider worthy of saving. |
