Anthony Fairclough gets it spot on. 1. The proposed development is too high at five stories - all the other buildings this side of the railway bridge are no taller than three stories. 2. The proposed development is too imposing - it includes a dense allocation of 56 flats and sees a building stretching the full width of site and butting right up to the public pavement. 3. The parking allocation is far too small - 46 parking spaces in total for 56 flats and significant retail space is woefully inadequate. The result of this is that existing nearby residents will suffer as owners of the new flats, their visitors and shoppers will use our quiet family streets to park (Oxford Avenue and Chase Side Avenue are already full of cars and have no room for any more). 4. There is no landscaping or greenery at the front of the development; the two large trees that currently front the site do not appear on the plans and would need to be cut down under the current proposal to front the development up to the pavement. |
